Illicit Drugs Analysis

ChemCentre works closely with Police and state, federal and international government agencies in the fight against the manufacture and use of illicit drugs.

Our experts are world leaders in the field of identification and analysis of illicit and emerging synthetic drugs and novel psychoactive substances.

We have combined our forensic capabilities with technological development, to create drug profiling database services to assist national and international policing authorities enhance intelligence on the movement and trafficking of illicit and synthetic drugs.

Our scientists assist police to identify and quantify seizures of illicit drugs including cannabis, amphetamines, heroin and cocaine, as well as emerging synthetic ‘designer’ drugs, such as synthetic cannabinoids, cathinones and other amphetamine-type drugs.

In addition, our scientists attend clandestine drug laboratories across the State, to identify any chemicals present, provide scientific advice to police to minimise hazards to officers and the surrounding community and assist in the removal of chemicals from the site for further analysis in our laboratory.

We work closely with WA Police, WA Health and other authorities to provide reports on synthetic and illicit drug trends and patterns, including purities and contaminants, with our scientists regularly providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.
