Year 11/12 and university student groups are invited to tour our world-class forensic and analytical laboratories. A visit to ChemCentre’s Bentley laboratories will give students an insight into a future career in chemistry, the opportunity to meet ‘real life’ chemists and explore their workplace.
A visit begins with a welcome presentation that introduces students to ChemCentre, its role in the community and the diverse roles a chemist can have throughout their career. Tour either our Forensic, Organic or Inorganic laboratories. This is an opportunity for students to quiz chemists, explore their work environment and learn more about the role chemistry has within our community.
The visit will conclude with a selection of activities* that are both entertaining and informative for all ages and highlight the diversity within the field of chemistry - try on the Emergency Response Personal Protective Equipment, view forensic samples, solve a case and more!
Tours are free of charge, limited and book out quickly – request your ChemCentre visit.

Prefer the ChemCentre team to visit your school or university? We can! The ChemCentre team of science communicators and scientists can visit your group to provide insight into a future career in chemistry!
School groups
Organise a one hour presentation from the ChemCentre team to give students an insight into a future career in chemistry. Students will hear about real cases, test their observation skills and volunteers can try the Emergency Response Personal Protective Equipment. Students will leave the presentation inspired and informed about the variety of roles a chemist can have throughout their career. Alternatively, hear from the chemists directly! ChemCentre scientists can visit your school to share an insight into the world of chemistry, their career path and where the skills learnt at school are used in the workforce.
University groups
Meet a chemist, hear their experiences, learn more about ChemCentre’s latest research and see where a career in Chemistry can take you by inviting the ChemCentre team to join your next careers day, networking event or information session.
