The ChemCentre Domestic Water Suite is ideal for water supplied from the mains. This is the most economical water suite, as mains water is also monitored by the Water Corporation so you may not require additional testing. The Domestic Water Suite measures the general chemistry of the water, including total salt content and pH level. It also provides an analysis of the mineral content of the water including common trace metals. A full list of the components of a domestic suite is shown below.
General Chemistry | Inorganic Chemistry | Trace Metals |
- Alkalinity (as CaCO3), Bicarbonate (HCO3), Carbonate (CO3)

All contact details including email address must be provided when submitting the samples. The analysis required is Domestic Suite.
Sampling
We require 500mL of sample in a clean plastic bottle, filled to the top with no air space and a plastic lid (a rinsed out mineral water bottle is fine).. The sample should be kept cool (not frozen) and delivered to the lab within 24 hours of collection.
Please see ChemCentre's sample bottle guide. Sample bottles can be obtained free of charge from ChemCentre.
Submission times: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Results and Turnaround Times
Please allow ten working days for results.
Pricing
There is a minimum charge for a single sample of $220.00 including GST.
2 x samples = $310.20; 3 x samples = $443.30; 4 x samples = $576.40.
Add $133.10 (including GST) for each additional sample.
Please note prepayment is required and must be made when you submit your sample
For other analyses, for example testing for pesticides or pathogens, specific sampling requirements may be necessary. Please contact us to discuss this with a ChemCentre scientist prior to collecting your samples.
If you require additional microbiological analysis (E.coli, coliforms) of your tap water, our Domestic Water Suite with Microbiological Testing is for you. Microbiological testing is subcontracted to PathWest.
Additional sample volume for microbiological testing should be collected in a separate specially sterilised bottle and returned to the laboratory, chilled, within 24 hours of collection. Sample bottles can be collected free of charge from ChemCentre. Please see ChemCentre's sample bottle guide.

If you capture your own rainwater, you will require a more comprehensive range of tests. ChemCentre’s Rainwater Suite includes a comprehensive range of drinking water tests, including microbiological testing, and follows the WA Government, Department of Health Standard Drinking Water Tests.
Please note that this testing requires specialised bottles (four bottles per sample). Please see ChemCentre's sample bottle guide. Bottles can be collected free of charge from ChemCentre.

If you use your own bore and dam water, you will require a more comprehensive range of tests. ChemCentre’s Bore/Dam Water Suite includes a comprehensive range of drinking water tests, including microbiological testing, and follows the WA Government, Department of Health Standard Drinking Water Tests.
Please note that this testing requires specialised bottles (six bottles per sample). Please see ChemCentre's sample bottle guide. Bottles can be collected free of charge from ChemCentre.
