ChemCentre was asked to assist the State when it became apparent that the Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) had an issue with lead contamination. ChemCentre’s work was instrumental to identifying the source of the lead and determining a way forward ultimately providing considerable cost savings for government.
The PCH site is a large, complex modern building. The problem was complicated by the vast array of pipes and fittings throughout the building and the many materials used in the water system. More than 50,000 individual samples were analysed to determine the extent and level of the contamination and to confirm that the remedial actions had returned the potable water to levels in the Australian Drinking Water Guideline standards.
