The centerpiece of our Outreach program is a biennual Open Day, usually held on the second last Saturday in August as part of National Science Week. This free event is open to the public and encourages the community to connect with chemistry and forensic science. Visitors get to see behind-the-scenes and engage with ChemCentre scientists through activities and conversation.
Open Day’s approach is centred on three principles:
Tell stories and use ‘real life’ case studies
Provide memorable experiences
Create opportunities for dialogue
All activities at ChemCentre’s Open Day are developed to match these three principles, which are drawn from an understanding of excellence in science engagement and include a diverse mix of interactive displays, activities and presentations.
