Comprehensive forensic chemistry services
ChemCentre's Forensic Science Laboratory plays a central role in supporting law enforcement in Western Australia. We work with the WA Police, State and District Coroners and other government departments and agencies involved in justice administration.
Each year we examine more than 20,000 items of evidence ranging from blood and urine samples from Coroners' investigations into sudden deaths to gunshot residues and other materials from serious crimes.
Police investigations of clandestine drug manufacturing are supported and we also advise on the value, use, collection and preservation of evidence as well as providing expert testimony in court proceedings.
Our Forensic Science Laboratory is staffed by professional officers with extensive experience in forensic chemistry, mineralogy and instrumental analytical techniques.
While our major focus is servicing state agencies, many forensic chemistry techniques have direct application in areas as diverse as material science and environmental protection. Thus the services of the laboratory are also available to industry and the general public.
