Carbon accounting expertise

Carbon accounting testAustralia is a signatory to the Kyoto protocol and as such it is mandatory for Australia to meet the goals of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 8% by 2012.

However, long term goals require Australia to keep its momentum in further reducing GHG emissions through improved efficiencies, better management practices, conservation, use of natural resources for energy generation and so on.

There are areas where research is still needed to verify and develop ways of achieving Kyoto target and ChemCentre has contributed to the research effort via several collaborative research projects and its participation in the Australian Greenhouse Accounting CRC.

We have the analytical expertise to measure carbon in many forms and matrices. Thus we are able to readily assess the effectiveness of greenhouse gas remediation strategies.

ChemCentre is currently carrying out ground-breaking collaborative research linking carbon storage, soil amendment and salinity. In this way it may be possible to fund soil amelioration from carbon credits, thereby multiplying a beneficial effect to the environment and a return to productive farm land.
