ChemCentre recently attended the WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference, highlighting the work of its scientists in responding to chemical hazards in the community.
Volunteers and staff from state fire and emergency services groups attended the conference to learn about the work of the state agencies in supporting
ChemCentre scientists and members of the Department of Fire and Emergency Service Special Operations Response team presented a short scenario which saw them respond to suspected dumping of industrial chemicals in an abandoned car.
This engaging presentation highlighted the safety measures and careful decision making undertaken by ChemCentre and DFES experts when faced with a potential chemical hazard.
ChemCentre also had a display featuring its mobile laboratory and the protective and analytical equipment used by the team in assessing and responding to chemical incidents.
