Work Experience at ChemCentre
Are you an aspiring chemist who wants to gain laboratory experience across a range of chemistry disciplines including forensic science, environmental science or occupational health and safety?
If so, consider ChemCentre. You will get the opportunity to assist with routine work, maintenance of instruments and method development. You will learn all the steps from sample registration, preparation and analysis through to reporting.
Every year during the summer holidays (December - February) ChemCentre offers a number of paid work experience positions for university students in their third year or honours year of chemistry.
The ChemCentre vacation work program will provide you with a unique experience, plenty of challenges and an opportunity to use the theories and practical skills that you have developed at university. On top of this you will be working with a team of people who will ensure this time is memorable.
Placements are advertised on the Curtin, UWA, ECU, Murdoch and Notre Dame University jobs boards and/or blackboards. Applications open in November.
To be eligible you must be an Australian Citizen or hold an appropriate working visa.

Occasionally, ChemCentre will offer unpaid internships. Internships offer students the opportunity to gain valuable laboratory experience and learn more about the Chemistry work force.
The availability of internships varies each year, depending on current projects and the laboratory's capacity for interns. This opportunity is open to TAFE and university students studying chemistry (or related course) in Australia or internationally.
